How to say “grave” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
كَمْ رَأَيْتُ صَاحِبَ مَنْزِلٍ مَا نَزَلَ لَحْدَهُ حَتَّى نَزَلَ
How many a homeowner have I seen who never moved into his house before he died!
لَحْدَهُ — into his grave. A noun meaning the niche of a grave, with the suffix -hu ('his', male) attached, so it reads 'his grave'. It is the object reached, marking the only dwelling he truly entered. The attached 'his' ties the grave to the homeowner, sharpening the bitter twist.
