How to say “hardship” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
فَقَالَتْ نَحْنُ بَشَرٌ فِي ضَيْقٍ وَشِدَّةٍ
She said, "We are human beings in distress and hardship."
وَشدَّة — and hardship. The wa- on the front is 'and', joining a second hardship-noun to the first under the same 'in', and the noun is indefinite. So this word coordinates 'hardship' with 'distress', both governed and in the governed form. The pair together describe their condition.
