How to say “he commits a sin” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
أَنَّهُ لَمْ يَعْدِلْ فِي قِسْمَتِهَا فَيَأْثَمُ
that he did not act fairly in dividing it, and so he commits a sin
فَيَأْثَمُ — so he commits a sin. The 'fa-' here draws a consequence, presenting the sinning as what results from the unfair division just stated. It rides on a verb that holds its own 'he' subject, so this single word both makes the connection and names who incurs it.
