Arabic vocabulary
How to say “head” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
وَأَمَّا حَارِثَةُ فَإِنَّهُ كَانَ يَفْلِي رَأْسَ أُمِّهِ
As for Haritha, he used to stroke his mother's head.
رَأْسَ — head. A noun meaning 'head', the thing stroked, and so the object of the verb before it, taking the accusative ending that marks a direct object. It also heads an 'of' pairing with 'his mother' that follows, building 'his mother's head'. So it is both the object of the verb and the owned-by chain's first link.
