Arabic vocabulary
How to say “his mother” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
وَأَمَّا حَارِثَةُ فَإِنَّهُ كَانَ يَفْلِي رَأْسَ أُمِّهِ
As for Haritha, he used to stroke his mother's head.
أُمِّهِ — his mother. This noun carries the attached '-hi' (his), giving 'his mother', and it is the owned half of 'his mother's head', so it takes the genitive that the preceding noun imposes. The '-hi' points back to the son. The 'of' bond is built by the two nouns sitting together, with the suffix and case ending carrying the possession.
