Arabic vocabulary
How to say “hope” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
وَإِنْ نَالَ الْأَمَلَ، اِزْدَادَ خَيْرًا
And if one attained hope, he increased in good.
الْأَمَلَ — hope. The al- marks this as definite, and it takes the object (accusative) ending because it is what the condition-verb 'attained' acts upon. Its ending flags it as the direct object: the hope that is supposed to have been reached.
