Arabic vocabulary
How to say “how” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
فَأَنَّى يَضُرُّكَ كَيْدُ الشَّيْطَانِ الرَّجِيمِ
How then could the plotting of the accursed Satan harm you?
فَأَنَّى — how then. The front 'fa-' draws an inference ('so then'), and the rest is a question-word ('how / from where') used here not to ask for directions but to deny outright: 'how could it possibly...?'. The whole opening sets up a rhetorical challenge expecting the answer 'it cannot'.
