How to say “plotting” in Arabic, with pronunciation and real example sentences from OpenArabic texts.
وَقَالَ تَعَالَىٰ ﴿وَإِنْ تَصْبِرُوا وَتَتَّقُوا لَا يَضُرُّكُمْ كَيْدُهُمْ شَيْئًا﴾
And the Most High said: "And if you are patient and are God-fearing, their plotting will not harm you at all."
كَيْدُهُمْ — their plotting. A noun 'their plotting' with a 'their' tag suffixed, naming the subject that would do the harming. The attached possessor packs 'of them' into the noun, so the scheming and its owners are one word.
From: Patience Under Decree →فَأَنَّى يَضُرُّكَ كَيْدُ الشَّيْطَانِ الرَّجِيمِ
How then could the plotting of the accursed Satan harm you?
كَيْدُ — plotting. A noun ('plotting / scheming') serving as the doer of 'harm', named after the verb in normal verb-first order. It also heads an 'of' pairing with the next noun, so it reads 'the plotting OF...', and takes the subject ending.
