How to say “be conscious of God” in Arabic, with pronunciation and real example sentences from OpenArabic texts.
فَقَالَ تَعَالَىٰ وَإِنْ تَصْبِرُوا وَتَتَّقُوا لَا يَضُرُّكُمْ كَيْدُهُمْ شَيْئًا إِنَّ اللَّهَ بِمَا يَعْمَلُونَ مُحِيطٌ
Allah, the Exalted, said: If you are patient and are conscious of God, their plotting will not harm you at all. Indeed, Allah encompasses what they do.
وَتَتَّقُوا — and you are conscious of God. wa- coordinates a second condition onto the first, adding God-consciousness, with 'you (plural)' built in. The conjunction parallels the two conditions, both governed by the same 'if'.
From: Patience and God's Help →وَقَالَ تَعَالَىٰ ﴿وَإِنْ تَصْبِرُوا وَتَتَّقُوا لَا يَضُرُّكُمْ كَيْدُهُمْ شَيْئًا﴾
And the Most High said: "And if you are patient and are God-fearing, their plotting will not harm you at all."
وَتَتَّقُوا — and you are God-fearing. A linking 'and' bound to a second-person plural present verb 'you are God-fearing', joined in parallel to the previous condition. The 'and' yokes the two suppositions, and the plural ending again carries the 'you all' inside the verb.
From: Patience Under Decree →وَقَالَ ﴿وَإِنْ تَصْبِرُوا وَتَتَّقُوا فَإِنَّ ذَلِكَ مِنْ عَزْمِ الْأُمُورِ﴾
And He said: "And if you are patient and are mindful of God, then indeed that is among the matters of firm resolve."
وَتَتَّقُوا — and you (plural) be mindful of God. A linking 'and' bound to a second-person plural verb 'you are mindful of God', parallel to the previous condition and likewise in the clipped jussive shape that the conditional frame imposes. The plural ending again holds the 'you all'.
