How to say “humiliation” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
فَقَدْ إِزْدَادَ مَهَانَةً وَخَبْطًا ،
So he became increasingly humiliated and confused.
مَهَانَةً — humiliation. This abstract noun takes the object-style (accusative) ending because it specifies the respect in which the increase happened, answering 'increased in what?'. Arabic uses this ending to pin down the dimension of growth, so it reads as 'grew more in humiliation'. It stays indefinite, naming the quality in general.
