How to say “I reached” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
فَقَالَ عُمَرُ الآنَ أَكُونُ أَدْرَكْتُ أُمِّي،
Then Umar said, "Have I now reached my mother?"
أَدْرَكْتُ — I reached. This is a completed-action verb with the 'I' subject built in, meaning 'I requited / made up for'. Paired with the 'be' form before it, it reads as 'have I made up for'. It takes the noun after it as what he wonders whether he has repaid: his mother.
