How to say “I remained” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
فَلَبِثْتُ وَالْقَدَحُ عَلَى يْدَيَّ
So I remained, and the cup was upon my two hands.
فَلَبِثْتُ — so I remained. A past-tense verb 'stayed/waited' with its 'I' subject in the ending, fronted by fa-. The fa- chains the step on, and the verb sets up a 'while...' side-clause that the next word opens.
