How to say “I return” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
قَالَ دَعْنِي فَإِنِّي مُحْتَاجٌ، وَعَلَيَّ عِيَالٌ لَا أَعُودُ،
He said, "Let me go; I am in need and have dependents. I will not return."
أَعُودُ — I return. A present-tense verb with the 'I' subject in its prefix, negated by the particle before it. Read with that negation it becomes the captive's promise, 'I will not come back', stated as a denied present.
