Arabic vocabulary
How to say “instructed” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
وَأَوْصَى إِنْ وَلَدْتِ غُلَامًا أَنْ تُسَمِّيهِ يَالَادِين
And he instructed that if you give birth to a son, name him Yaladin.
وَأوصَى — and he instructed. A linking 'and' is fused to a past-tense verb meaning 'instructed/left a charge', its 'he' subject built in. The 'and' joins this fresh action onto the prior report. The verb sets up the following 'that' clause to spell out the instruction.
