How to say “intended meaning” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
وَمَا أُسْتُشْكِلَ عَلَيْهِمْ مِنْ مَرَادٍ،
and whatever intended meaning was unclear to them,
مَرَادٍ — intended meaning. An indefinite noun naming the intended sense of a text, the object of the specifying preposition before it, so it takes the genitive ending. Its indefiniteness keeps it general — any intended meaning. It pins down what kind of difficulty the questions were about.
