Arabic vocabulary
How to say “king” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
فَلَمْ يَبْقَ إِلَّا مَلِكُ غَسَّانِ بِالشَّأْمِ،
So only the king of Ghassan remained in the Levant.
مَلِكُ — king. A noun 'king' as the head of a possessive pair, leaning onto 'Ghassan' as its owner; the first half carries no 'al-' of its own and takes definiteness from the owner. As the leftover subject it is in the plain doer ending.
