How to say “lash” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
وَكَانَ يشرب الْخمر ويجلده النَّبِي
And he used to drink alcohol, and the Prophet would lash him.
يَجْلِدُهُ — he would lash him. This is a present-tense verb with a built-in 'he' subject and an attached 'him' as object, so one word says 'he lashes him'. Used in the past narration it carries the habitual 'would lash him', with the named doer following.
