Arabic vocabulary
How to say “measured it” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
أَخَذَ عُودًا فَذَرَعَهُ بِذِرَاعِهِ
He took a stick, then he measured it against his arm.
فَذَرَعَهُ — then he measured it. A 'then' is fused to a past-tense verb that also carries a tail pronoun 'it', referring back to the stick. The 'then' chains this measuring onto the taking just before. The attached 'it' is the thing measured, so the object rides inside the same word as the verb.
