How to say “milk” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
فَصَبَبْتُ مِنَ الْمَاءِ عَلَى اللَّبَنِ حَتَّى بَرَدَ أَسْفَلُهُ،
So I poured water over the milk until its bottom cooled.
اللَّبَنِ — the milk. A definite noun, the milk, governed by the 'over' before it, so it sits in the 'of'-style ending; its fused 'al-' (the) makes it definite. Its first letter is a sun-letter, so the 'al-' blends into a doubled 'l' in speech (al-laban). It is what the water was poured onto.
