Habib ibn Abi Thabit, al-A'mash, and Abd al-Aziz ibn Rufay' narrated to us,
وَحَدَّثَنَا — and narrated to us. The connector wa- opens this transmission line, on a past verb of narrating with a built-in 'he' subject and an 'us' ending fused on. The suffix marks the recipients as 'us', the word covering 'narrated to us'.
