How to say “nine” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
فَلَبِثَ تِسْعًا وَعِشْرِينَ لَيْلَةً،
He then remained for twenty-nine nights.
تِسْعًا — nine. A counting word for 'nine' that opens the compound number 'twenty-nine'. In Arabic such a count governs the thing counted that follows and stands in a fixed phrasing slot, so it is read together with the 'and twenty' coming next as one numeric expression.
