Arabic vocabulary
How to say “of heaven” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
وَتَفْرَحُ بِهِمْ أَمْلَاكُ السَّمَاءِ،
And the angels of heaven rejoice for them,
السَّمَاءِ — of heaven. The al- marks this as definite, and as the owned tail of the possessive chain it carries the 'of' (genitive) ending, naming which angels: those of heaven. Its 'l' assimilates in sound into the noun's first 'sun letter', which is why the spoken form doubles that consonant.
