And this book of ours is needed by the advanced student,
الْمُنْتَهِيُ — the advanced student. A noun carrying 'al-' (the), the definite figure who does the needing, standing as the subject of the verb that came before it. Arabic readily places the subject after its verb, so this word names who has need of the book.
