How to say “ornament” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
فَإِنَّهَا زِينَةُ الْمُتَّقِينَ،
For indeed it is the ornament of the God-fearing,
زِينَةُ — ornament. This noun heads a possessive pairing with 'the God-fearing' that follows, so it reads 'ornament of...'. As the front half of such a pairing it gives up its own 'the' and draws its definiteness from the noun after it. Arabic builds 'ornament of X' by setting the two nouns directly together.
