How to say “passing” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
تَخْطَفُهُ وَتَعُوقُهُ عَنِ الْمُرُورِ عَلَيْهِ،
It snatches him and prevents him from passing over it,
الْمُرُورِ — the passing. A definite noun (it has al-) sitting in the genitive because the preceding 'from' governs it. It names the activity he is being blocked from, so it is the object the preposition reaches for rather than a free-standing noun.
