Arabic vocabulary
How to say “person” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
وَغِبْتُ عَنْهُ بِحَيْثُ أَسْمَعُ حَسَّهُ وَلَا أَرَى شَخْصَهُ
I withdrew from him so that I could hear his sound, but I could not see his person.
شَخْصَهُ — his person. This noun carries the attached '-hu' (his), giving 'his person/figure', and it is the object of the negated 'see', the thing not visible. The '-hu' points back to the same man. It completes the balanced contrast: his sound reached the ear, but his figure stayed out of sight.
