How to say “Pharaoh” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
بَلْ أَمْرُهُمْ كَانَ بِالضِّدِّ مِنْ أَمْرِ الرَّسُولِ، كَفِرْعَوْنَ وَنَمْرُودَ وَأَضْرَابِهِمَا
Rather, their matter was the opposite of that of the Messenger’s, like Pharaoh, Nimrod, and their like.
كَفِرْعَوْنَ — like Pharaoh. This is a proper name with the comparison particle 'like' fused to its front, 'like Pharaoh'. The particle sets up a likeness, attaching directly onto the name as Arabic does; the name takes the form that particle governs.
