Arabic vocabulary
How to say “play” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
كَمَا يَتَلاَعَبُ الصِّبْيَانُ بِالْكُرَةِ
Just as the boys play with the ball.
يَتَلاَعَبُ — play. A present-tense verb of playing standing before its plural subject, so it stays in the singular shape, since an Arabic verb placed ahead of its doer does not show the plural. The plural 'boys' that follows is the real subject. This verb-before-subject pattern is normal Arabic order.
