Arabic vocabulary
الصِّبْيَانُ is how you say “the boys” in Arabic. Hear it pronounced and see it used in a real example sentence from classical texts below.
كَمَا يَتَلاَعَبُ الصِّبْيَانُ بِالْكُرَةِ
Just as the boys play with the ball.
الصّبيان — the boys. A broken plural for 'boys', formed by reshaping the singular's internal pattern rather than adding an ending, and made definite by 'al-'. It is the subject of the playing-verb that came before it. Arabic builds many plurals this way, by recasting the word's shape.
