Arabic vocabulary
How to say “pleasure” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
وَأَشَدُّ مِنْ ذَلِكَ أَنْ يَقَعَ السُرُورَ بِمَا هُوَ عُقُوبَةٌ،
Even more severe than that is taking pleasure in what is a punishment.
السُرُورَ — the pleasure. A definite noun carrying 'the', naming pleasure, the thing that 'occurs'. It is presented with the object ending in the source, marking it as what the occurring lands on. So it names the misplaced delight that, the line says, outdoes the unfelt punishment in severity.
