Arabic vocabulary
How to say “possibility, likelihood” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
ويحتمل احتمالا ضعيفا موافقة مذهبه
Yet it bears a weak possibility of agreeing with his school of thought.
اِحْتِمَالًا — a possibility. A noun from the very same root as the verb, dropped in right after it in the -a form. Arabic does this to underline or measure the action — 'admits an admitting,' i.e. allows a possibility — and the adjective next grades just how weak that possibility is.
