How to say “present an argument” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
اِحْتَجَّ آدَمُ وَمُوسَىٰ فَقَالَ مُوسَىٰ
Adam and Moses presented an argument, and Moses said:
اِحْتَجَّ — presented an argument. A past-tense verb on a heavy interactive pattern meaning two parties argued a case with each other, here naming Adam and Moses. The pattern itself signals a back-and-forth between two sides. It opens the famous exchange, with the two disputants named after it.
