Arabic vocabulary
How to say “presented” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
وإذا جلس كأنه أسير قدم لتضرب عنقه،
And when he sat, it was as if he were a prisoner brought forth to be executed.
قُدِّمَ — was presented. This is the passive form: the prisoner was brought forward, with the agent unnamed. Arabic marks the passive by reshaping the verb's inner vowels, and following the indefinite noun it works as a describing clause, 'a prisoner who was brought', with no separate 'who'.
