How to say “prevent” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
ثُمَّ أَعَدَدْتُ أَعْمَالًا لَا تَمْنَعُ مِنَ المُحَادَثَةِ لِأَوْقَاتِ لِقَائِهِمْ،
Then I prepared tasks that would not prevent conversation for the times of their meeting,
تَمَنُّعِ — prevent. A present-tense verb under the preceding negation, inside the relative clause describing the tasks. It carries a feminine-singular shape to agree with the non-human plural 'tasks', which is what links the clause to that noun. It states what those tasks would not do, namely block conversation.
