And some of the wise recited:
وَأَنْشَدَ — and recited. This verb is fronted by an attached 'and' linking it to the prior passage, with its 'he' subject built in, and it commonly serves to introduce a quoted verse. The 'and' threads it onto the narration. The verb supplies the reciting.

And some of them recited:
وَأَنْشَدَ — and recited. The wa- continues the narration, attaching this new report to the series. The past-tense verb it prefixes carries its subject inside it, awaiting the named subject that follows. This is the recurring narration-glue pattern.
