Arabic vocabulary
How to say “reluctant” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
وقال ﴿وَلا يَأْتُونَ الصَّلاةَ إِلَّا وَهُمْ كُسَالَى وَلا يُنْفِقُونَ إِلَّا وَهُمْ كَارِهُونَ﴾
And He said, 'They do not approach prayer except lazily, and they do not spend except reluctantly.'
كَارِهُونَ — reluctantly. This is a plural active participle meaning 'unwilling ones', the predicate of the circumstantial clause: while they are reluctant. It names the state in which they spend, agreeing with 'they' in number.
