How to say “remaining” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
فَأَخَذَتَا يَخْتَصِمَانِ فِي الصَّبِيِّ الْبَاقِيِّ
They then began to argue over the remaining child.
الْبَاقِي — the remaining. A describing word attached to the child, and in Arabic an adjective must echo its noun on several fronts at once: it copies the noun's definiteness, taking its own 'the', and matches the same post-preposition case. That mirroring is how a reader knows this adjective belongs to that noun and not some other one in the sentence.
