How to say “ruin” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
فَدَخَلَ فِي بَاطِنِهِ الْخَرَابُ،
Then ruin entered his inner self.
الخراب — ruin. This noun carries 'al-' (the) and is the actual doer of 'entered', its subject, which is why it takes the subject-style (nominative) ending despite arriving after the verb and its place-phrase. Arabic delays the subject like this regularly, so reading the line means pairing this late noun back with the earlier verb.
