Arabic vocabulary
How to say “sad” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
قَالَ فَأَمْسَى كَئِيبًا حَزِينًا
He said, and by evening he became dejected and sad.
حَزِينًا — sad. A second adjective in the same object form, paired with the first to deepen the description of his state. Both sit in this case because they are predicates of the 'became' verb. Arabic stacks such matching predicates to layer the picture of how he felt.
