How to say “salt” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
لَا يُحِبُّ الْمِلْحَ إِلَّا ذُكْرَانِ الرِّجَالِ
Only men like salt.
الْمِلْحَ — the salt. The al- makes this definite, 'the' salt, the specific known thing. It is the receiver-of-the-action of 'like', so it wears the accusative object ending, marking it as what is liked.
