How to say “seek closeness” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
وَيَتَقَرَّبُ بِتَقْبِيلِ يَدِهِ وَيَعْتَادُ بَرَكَتَهُ، وَيَعْمَلُ بِهَوَّاتِهِ دُونَ شَرْعِ اللَّهِ وَسُنَّتِهِ
And he seeks closeness by kissing his hand, becomes accustomed to his blessing, and acts according to his whims instead of God's law and His Sunnah.
ويتقربُ — and he seeks closeness. A present-tense verb fronted by 'wa-' (and), its 'ya-' prefix carrying a 'he' subject built into the form. The 'wa-' strings this action onto the chain of habits being listed, so one word holds the connector, the doer, and the act of drawing near.
