Arabic vocabulary
How to say “seek independence” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
وأنزل ضرورَتك بالله ، ولا تستغن إلا بالله
And place your needs with God, and do not seek independence except through God,
تَسْتَغْنِ — you seek independence. This is a present-tense verb in the jussive shape, 'seek independence', forced into that clipped ending by the prohibitive la before it: 'do not seek to be self-sufficient'. Arabic forms a negative command this way; the 'you' is built in, addressing a single male.
