Arabic vocabulary
How to say “signs” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
قَالَ مَا أَوَّلُ أَشْرَاطِ السَّاعَةِ
He said, "What are the first signs of the Hour?"
أَشْرَاطِ — signs. A plural noun 'signs' sitting as the owned-by half under 'first' and the owner-half over 'the Hour', so it links two pairings at once. Its 'of'-type ending shows it is possessed by 'first' while it in turn possesses the Hour.
