وَقَدْ أَتَوْا بِآيَاتٍ مُتَشَابِهَاتٍ،
And they recited similar verses,
مُتَشَابِهَاتٍ — similar verses. A plural adjective 'similar/resembling' modifying 'verses'. It agrees with its noun in number, the genitive case, and indefiniteness. The agreement binds it to the noun, together giving 'similar verses', stressing how alike the recited passages were.
