وَقُلْتُ نَمْ يَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ،
And I said, 'Sleep, O Messenger of God.'
نَمْ — sleep. A command-form verb addressed to one person, telling him to sleep. Commands take their own clipped verb shape, ending without the usual present-tense vowel. It opens the polite instruction to the Prophet.
