Arabic vocabulary
How to say “strive” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
وَيَجْتَهِدُ فِي مُكَافَأَتِهِ،
And he strives to reward him.
وَيَجْتَهِدُ — and he strives. The front wa- joins this to the previous statement, and the verb under it is a present-shape 'strives', with its 'he' subject built in. It continues the general portrait of the wise person's conduct. So it means he habitually exerts effort, paired with the 'in' phrase that names where.
