Arabic vocabulary
How to say “the earth” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
يَحْفَظُ اللَّهُ بِهِمْ الْأَرْضَ،
God preserves the earth through them.
الْأَرْضَ — the earth. The al- marks this as definite, 'the earth' as the whole known world, and it takes the object (accusative) ending because it is the thing the verb acts upon. Its ending is what flags it as the direct object, the thing being preserved, distinct from the doer named earlier.
