How to say “the later” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
وَطُولُ الْأَمَلِ وَإِيثَارُ الْعَاجِلِ عَلَى الْآجِلِ
Lengthy hopes and preferring the immediate over the later.
الْآجِلِ — the later. A definite noun, an adjective used as a standing noun, in the genitive after 'over'. It names the later, delayed thing that is passed up, completing the 'immediate over the later' contrast the sentence draws.
