Arabic vocabulary
How to say “the lesser ones” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
فَإِنَّهُمْ هُمْ الْأَقَلُّونَ قَدْرًا،
For indeed they are the least in worth.
الْأَقَلُّونَ — the lesser ones. An elative (the 'most/least' pattern) used here as a plural noun, 'the fewest/lowest'. As an -un plural it carries the predicate (nominative) ending, completing 'they are the least'. A clarifying word will follow to say in what respect they are least, since the elative alone leaves the measure open.
