وَأَقَلُّ مِحْنَةِ الْكَبِيرِ أَنْ تَقَعَ النَّوَاةُ فِي الْكُوزِ،
And the least trial of the elder is that the pit falls into the jug.
النَّوَاةُ — the pit. The definite subject of 'fall', carrying the -u subject ending and placed after its verb. With 'al-' it names the specific thing supposed to drop, the pit; a 'in' phrase will give its destination.
